Saying goodbye to a client is always bittersweet. We bid farewell to Helen (in red) as she moves interstate to pursue her dream job. Helen first came to Rellas through a recommendation from a health professional, and over the past two years, we’ve had the privilege of watching her transform—not just physically, but in confidence and capability.

I’m so proud of Lisa’s journey through health and movement. Lisa started in our group sessions a few years ago and struggled with consistency. Lisa works for herself and puts in long hours running her own business, which is sedentary. I would send her messages on Sundays to remind her to book in, which she did but always cancelled last minute.

In late 2023, Lisa’s body reacted to inactivity and the long hours working, and she was flat on her back for months with severe leg and back pain and not being able to walk 50m

Lisa had a long-planned trip to the Philippines in early 2024 and was now facing the real prospect of being unable to go when she decided to work with me privately.

Lisa’s words were heartbreaking in what she would settle for, to walk without pain and maybe one day get to make her trip.

Fast forward to today, Lisa took that trip, trains with me twice a week, and now plays intermediate pickleball twice a week; and just walked 5km over the weekend and loves going for bush walks.

Lisa is one of the reasons I love what I do: giving people freedom through movement to thrive and live life. That is what sustainable human movement is.

A while ago, I heard a statement poopooed the theory of 10,000 steps a day or that walking isn't real exercise. (facepalm moment) it's movement, and as I have been banging on about for years 'movement is medicine, and movement is life'.

The more time you spend walking, the better you protect your body against obesity, diabetes, heart disease, certain cancers, osteoporosis, arthritis pain, colds, flu, depression, and anxiety. These are just some of the many benefits of walking.

From a mobility standpoint, walking engages your joints and strengthens your bones—particularly your spine and the bones in your feet- essential for your overall well-being. Additionally, walking significantly improves various aspects of your health, including circulation, sleep quality, and brain chemistry, enhancing your ability to move.

I am dealing with a high rate of lower back, hip and knee issues because, let's face it, the majority of people sit anywhere from 8 to 14 hours a day and barely average 5000 steps a day; yes, that is a fact if they only got up more often and went for a walk could reduce pain.

SO I encourage you, especially if you have a job that requires sitting for long periods of time to set yourself an alarm to get up and move, go for a walk for even just 5 minutes, it all ads up and aim for those 10,000 steps a day, because the more movement you do you will reduce pain, and increase your quality of life

I am dealing with a high rate of lower back, hip and knee issues because, let's face it, the majority of people sit anywhere from 8 to 14 hours a day and barely average 5000 steps a day; yes, that is a fact if they only got up more often and went for a walk could reduce pain.

SO I encourage you, especially if you have a job that requires sitting for long periods of time to set yourself an alarm to get up and move, go for a walk for even just 5 minutes, it all ads up and aim for those 10,000 steps a day, because the more movement you do you will reduce pain, and increase your quality of life

🌱🥳It’s a BIG Happy 6th Birthday to Rella’s🥳🌱

14 years ago, I set out to follow my passion for movement. I had no experience in running a business, but with the motto “Be Your Own Brave” and a passion for helping others move their bodies, I quit my high-paying job as a printer to start Throttlebody Fitness working out of other studios, but the name scared people and was only understood by those that knew motors.
I realized the fitness industry needed change, as I had suffered from pushing my body to the extreme. Like the mentors before me we were too ahead of the game. I lacked experience and a strong voice so I focused on gaining knowledge and experience through the guidance of remarkable mentors.

6 years ago, the opportunity presented itself and my dream of running my studio, and Rella’s Strength & Wellness Hub was born.

We have survived many challenges in the last 6 years, but with my world-class resilience, we have stood strong in the face of every adversity, and today, I am proud that Rella’s faced and survived the biggest challenge over Covid, a greedy Real Estate agent.

I am grateful and excited that we have been allowed to evolve and grow into
Rella’s - Fitness with a difference. The Home of Sustainable Human Movement, a space where you come to move with purpose, for a purpose, Life.

It’s a great exercise for her, encouraging her to reach her hands above her head, engage her legs, and improve her grip strength while pulling the handles. Additionally, it gets her heart rate up, providing a good cardiovascular workout and increasing Anne longevity and quality of life.

Before Anne starts, she sets herself a target distance to which she wants to get and goes for it.

Rella's Hub has prepared for challenges and changes throughout the year, which we hadn't anticipated. Thanks to the support of our members, Cindy has successfully saved Rella's, allowing it to enter 2025 in a new venue to kick off the New Year.

We are still in the process of transitioning to the new Rella's space, but phase one is nearly complete

Rella's is dedicated to offering a private, safe, and welcoming environment away from crowded, noisy gyms. We prioritise your health and well-being above all else and strive to provide movement, education, and guidance aimed at reducing illness and injury. Our goal is to enhance longevity and improve the quality of life for our members.

Interstaters may tell us to suck it up, but when we don't have these extremely hot days often, our bodies are not conditioned to the conditions.

Stay cool and hydrated, and make sure if you are out in these conditions, to have electrolytes to replenish the salts lost through excessive sweating.
